Man charged in relation to death of Christchurch man Braydon Hepworth

Braydon Hepworth was last seen on England Street in Linwood on Monday 14 September and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

A man has been charged in relation to the death of Christchurch man Braydon Hepworth.

In an update today, Detective Inspector Scott Anderson said a 60-year-old Christchurch man was facing charges relating to the concealment of Hepworth’s body and making a false statement.

"He will appear in the Christchurch District Court this morning," Anderson said.

Hepworth, 21, was last seen at a Z Energy service station in Linwood, in Christchurch's east, on September 3.

A search warrant had been carried out at his last known address in Linwood last Friday.

On Thursday, police found a body during a search warrant at a central Christchurch property on Hereford St, believed to be that of the missing 21-year-old.

Anderson previously said the death was being treated as unexplained, and formal identification was ongoing.

Police said it was providing Hepworth’s whānau with support at this "extremely difficult time".

"This is a devastating outcome for his family, and our hearts go out to them. While this is not the outcome we hoped for, there is a small comfort in being able to bring him home."
