Police are investigating after a person arrived at a Christchurch hospital with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound early this morning.

Police said it was notified of the incident at around 1.55am.

The person received medical treatment and had since been discharged from hospital.

Circumstances surrounding the injury were still being investigated, police said.
