A World of WearableArt crew member has died following a medical event this morning.
Police said emergency services were called around 10.15am following reports of a person "experiencing an apparent medical event in that vicinity".
"Medical assistance was rendered but sadly the person has died."
Wellington Free Ambulance had responded to the incident, a spokesperson confirmed.
In a statement, a WOW spokesperson told 1News a member of the World of WearableArt (WOW) crew "suffered a medical event while at TSB Arena and has sadly passed away".
"They were a beloved and valued member of the WOW whānau, and our thoughts are with their family, friends and everyone in the wider WOW team. We are providing additional support for our WOW cast and crew.
"Given the impact of this tragic event on our team and the show, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s 7.30pm Friday 25 September performance of the 2026 WOW Show: GLO!."
The spokesperson said WOW "appreciate everyone’s understanding and ask that the privacy of the crew member’s family and our wider WOW whānau is respected at this time".
All ticket holders for the Friday evening performance would be contacted directly with information about refunds or transferring to another performance.
A Taste of WOW at the InterContinental Wellington would continue to go ahead as scheduled.
