Two people have been injured with a weapon in the Hastings suburb of Flaxmere this afternoon.
Police were called to a Bristol Pl address at around 2.15pm on Tuesday to reports of disorder.
"Two people are reported to have been assaulted with weapons (not a firearm) and look to both have moderate injuries," a spokesperson said.
"The alleged offenders fled the scene prior to police arrival; however, initial indicators suggest that the parties are known to each other."
St John said it sent an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.

"Two patients were assessed at the scene and are being transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital by ambulance in a moderate condition."
