An Auckland schoolgirl was hit and injured by a falling signpost after a bus collided with a pole this morning.
Police said the girl was on a footpath on Main Highway in Ellerslie Village when a bus collided with a pole which then fell on her just before 8am.
St John responded with an ambulance and an operations manager.
"One patient was assessed and treated at the scene by the ambulance crew," a spokesperson said, adding she was in a minor condition and did not require transportation to hospital.
Auckland Transport said it would investigate the incident.
“Auckland Transport (AT) is saddened to hear about the incident in Ellerslie earlier this morning involving a bus, pole and a student.
“Our thoughts are with the injured person and their family, and we are thankful the injuries they suffered are minor.
“AT will be working closely with NZ Police, other emergency services, and the bus operator to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
In a photo posted to social media, the girl is lying on the ground while students in uniform and adults surround her.
