Two people are in hospital after separate serious assaults across Auckland overnight.
Police said they were called to an incident on New North Rd near Bollard Ave, New Windsor at about 4.55am following a report of a grievous assault.
"One person was transported to hospital with serious injuries," a spokesperson said.
"Police are making inquiries into the matter."
Hato Hone St John said it sent one ambulance, one critical care unit and one operations manager to the scene, treating and transporting one patient in serious condition to Auckland City Hospital's emergency department.
The alleged New North Rd attack came just over three hours after a separate assault on Pollen St in Grey Lynn.
Police said they received a report of a grievous assault there at about 1.45am, with one person taken to hospital. Inquiries into that incident are ongoing.
St John said it sent one ambulance to Pollen St and transported one patient in moderate condition to Auckland City Hospital.
