A teenager is in custody after a man was allegedly knocked unconscious in an overnight assault in Gisborne.
Police said they were called to Peel St around 2am following reports a man had been knocked unconscious.
The man was taken to hospital but had since been discharged.
An 18-year-old man was in custody and was assisting police with their enquiries.
Police were now appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

"We understand a number of people were present at the time of the assault who may also have video footage," police said.
