Police have released images of a man officers believed can assist with an investigation into an assault at an Auckland train station earlier this month.

Police were called to Mount Albert train station at around 7.15pm on September 3 to reports of an assault.

Detective Senior Sergeant Anthony Darvill said the victim received moderate injuries.

"Police are working to identify the man pictured as we believe he may be able to assist with our enquiries," he said.

"The man has a distinguishable tattoo on his calf."

Anyone with relevant information should contact police on 105.
