Two people are due to appear in court after a woman calling police to report an unwanted guest at their address in Wellington was allegedly heard telling her partner to hide the drugs.

Police said they were called to a property in Newtown early this morning after a person was reportedly refusing to leave.

While officers were still on the phone with the caller, she was allegedly overheard telling her partner to hide drugs before police arrived.

Police arrived at the scene to deal with the trespasser before obtaining a search warrant.

"A search of the property located drugs including ecstasy, methamphetamine and cocaine, in quantities sufficient to support supply-related charges," Inspector Dean Silvester said.

"I commend our staff for their vigilance.

"We see firsthand the harm caused by drugs and addiction, and we take a firm approach to removing drugs from our communities."

A 29-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man have been remanded in custody and are due to appear in Wellington District Court today on drug-related charges.

Police did not detail what occurred over the trespass matter.
