A Sydney truck driver has been charged after the heart-stopping moment he almost hit two schoolgirls waiting for a crossing last week.
The incident, caught on dashcam camera, occurred shortly after 8am on Thursday in the northwestern suburb of Rouse Hill.
New South Wales police said a truck driver swerved past vehicles before ploughing through a red light at the intersection of Windsor Rd and Cemetery Blvd.
"In doing so, the truck allegedly hit a kerb where two teenage girls were standing, before allegedly driving away," a spokesperson said.
The girls sustained minor injuries, with the incident reported to police later that day.
Officers spoke to a 26-year-old man at a home in Mount Pritchard on Friday.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice and charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, not stop at stop line at red light, motor vehicle, not give particulars to owner of damaged property and fail to stop and assist after impact cause injury.
He was due to appear before Blacktown Local Court on September 29.
