A first-class passenger had to be restrained with duct tape on an American Airlines flight after allegedly becoming aggressive toward staff and other passengers.
The flight from Dallas was more than halfway to its destination in Newark when cabin crews reported the disturbance, according to CNN.
The man allegedly used racist and homophobic profanity, hit the woman beside him and attempted to bite other passengers who tried to intervene.
Passengers who witnessed the disturbance said a flight attendant attempted to calm the man down, before he became even more aggressive.
Three passengers used duct tape and flexible handcuffs provided by the crew to restrain the man to his seat.
A passenger told CNN they sat on the restrained man's lap for 15 minutes while waiting for the plane to divert to Baltimore, Maryland.
After an emergency landing, the 67-year-old was arrested for disorderly conduct and second-degree assault.
