US President Donald Trump has labelled media covering reports that US munitions stockpiles were shrinking as "treasonous SCUM".
Trump insisted the country had "unlimited amounts" of firepower as the US war with Iran drags into its seventh month.
Multiple outlets in the US have been reporting that the war has had an impact on munitions and other supplies.
In July, an analysis from the Centre for Strategic and International Studies reported that shrinking inventories of Patriot and THAAD interceptors may force the US and its Middle Eastern allies to take greater risks to conserve air defences.
Large amounts of Tomahawk missiles, Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles (JASSMs) and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSMs) have also been used since the war began.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, the President called out "the treasonous SCUM that refuses to accurately report on our Military Operation in Iran".
"We have virtually unlimited amounts of Mid to High Grade Ammunition, far more than we could ever use for this, or for any other War (which is highly unlikely!), that could improbably take place.
"In addition, we are producing Munitions at levels never seen before. We are stockpiling and preparing for any contingency that could happen. We are taking them for ourselves, the U.S.A., rather than selling them to others, but the sales to Allies will soon again, begin."
He said that former President Joe Biden had sold more munitions to Ukraine than had been used in the entire Iran war. Trump then said he would start asking Ukraine and other European nations to pay for those munitions.
Trump has long been critical of the media, frequently calling outlets and reporters "fake news".
His latest post comes amid renewed violence in the Middle East after the US hit Iranian rocket launchers on an island in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, saying Iran was planning to use them to shoot mines into the waterway.
Iran retaliated by firing missiles at American bases across the Middle East.
US Central Command said the strikes focused on Iranian military targets including air defence sites, radar systems and maritime assets. But Iranian media said one US strike hit a home hosting a wedding in Kuhestak, a small town on the coast overlooking the Strait of Hormuz.
