Hundreds of keen knitters from across the country – and even Australia – have descended on Napier for a knitters retreat.
From dyeing, colour masterclasses to spinning and fibre preparation, the annual Knit August Nights expo has it all.
"It was like going back to kindergarten," one attendee said.
Another said it was about "learning something new, getting creative".
Event organiser Maree Buscke told 1News it was "like buying tickets for a rock concert".
"I advertise when registrations go on sale. I would sell 80% of the spaces in the first hour," she said.
And like all great knitting sessions, good gossip was also on hand.
"The banter is high and the more banter, the more beverages, they tend to go together. And I have no responsibility for drop stitches," Buscke joked.
Keen wool enthusiasts from Australia also made the trip over.
"There are definitely differences between the Kiwis and Aussies," Buscke said.
"I've just been to Australia doing the event there. Dare I say it, the Australians are more studious and in follow instruction better than the Kiwis do. But I think it's because Kiwis are so relaxed."
Knit August Nights has been running since 2009.
