Two people were injured in an assault following a crash in South Auckland yesterday, with a gun reportedly fired at a car during the incident.
The alleged offenders fled the scene and remain at large.
Police were called to Ronwood Road in Manukau at around 5.10pm after a crash between a Toyota and a Volkswagen.
Senior Sergeant Aji Basra said a person in the Toyota was allegedly assaulted by occupants of the Volkswagen. Two people suffered minor injuries during the altercation, with one taking themselves to hospital.
It is believed a gun was pulled out and fired at the Toyota, leaving minor damage.
"The victims are understandably shaken by the incident, and we are providing them with support,” Basra said.
Before police arrived, the offenders fled the scene in the Volkswagen, joined by a Nissan.
The Volkswagen was later found abandoned on Cavendish Drive, and police believe the offenders continued in the Nissan.
"Police are now working to determine what exactly has happened, and to identify and locate the offenders believed to be responsible."
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call police on 105.
