Around 200 staff at SkyCity are reportedly proposed to have their roles impacted, as the chief executive says the company is "reviewing its operating model".
In a statement to 1News, Jason Walbridge said "the economic conditions facing our business are real, and they require us to make some hard choices about how we're set up for the future.
It was reported that around 200 staff roles would be affected, mostly from the group's Auckland-based casino operations, according to the NZ Herald.
"We're reshaping how our people are deployed across the Group to make us simpler, smarter and more connected," Walbridge said.
"No decisions have been made. We'll consult with our people before anything is finalised, and our focus remains on supporting them through any change and on building a stronger SkyCity."
He said SkyCity Entertainment Group was "reviewing its operating model" in response to sustained pressure on customers' discretionary spending within the Australian and New Zealand markets.
It cited the ongoing crisis in the Middle East as part of the economic impact being faced.
"The company is changing how its people are deployed across the Group to build a simpler, smarter and more connected organisation for the future. No decisions have been made.
"SkyCity will communicate directly and transparently with its people throughout this process, in line with all legal and contractual obligations," he added.
In July this year the company announced it had sold off two major commercial building assets within two weeks of one another.
The first was a 17-level central Auckland commercial office tower and three other adjoining properties it owned for a total of $74.5 million to Mainland Capital and Russell Property Group.
The second was the confirmed conditional sale of The Grand Hotel, located between central Auckland’s Albert St and Federal St, to an overseas buyer.
The amount of this sale was not disclosed.
