A widespread Chorus outage has disrupted broadband services across Auckland's North Shore this morning.
Chorus Limited is the country's largest telecommunications infrastructure company.
According to its outages and faults map, thousands of properties were impacted by a "configuration issue" just before 4.30am.
Chorus said it was a "result of a non-impacting planned network change that was carried out in the early hours of this morning, the network change was then rolled back due to issues that were being experienced".
"Some of the config details that direct the flow internet traffic between have not been reinstated. This is causing the loss of service to large portion services. Our technical teams are investigating into remedial activities as urgently as possible."
It was not able to provide an estimated time for restoration, but some online reported that the broadband had returned for them as normal.
In a statement on its website, One New Zealand said Chorus was "working hard to restore services as quickly as possible, but customers in the Forrest Hill, North Shore area may still be experiencing issues".
"One NZ mobile calling and Wireless Broadband (Fixed Wireless Access) services are unaffected and working well," it added.
"We’re sorry for the disruption to our fibre broadband customers and will update when we receive more information."
