Kiwibank has joined the other major banks in hiking up fixed home loan rates.

Over the past few weeks, ASB, ANZ, BNZ and Westpac all announced increases to home loan and term deposit rates.

Most of the major banks cited changes to wholesale costs driven by the Middle East conflict, saying "global uncertainty pushes up those funding costs".

Effective from today, Kiwibank made changes to its 6-month, one-year, two-year, and three-year special rates for those with a minimum 20% deposit.

The 6-month fixed special rate jumped 10 basis points from 4.65% to 4.75%.

The two-and-three year fixed special rates went up 20 basis points each, to 4.95% and 5.39% respectively.

The three-year fixed special rate also increased 10 basis points from 5.39% to 5.49%.

Four- and five-year rates were unchanged, as were variable/ offset and revolving terms.

Kiwibank also increased its fixed standard rates for the same term lengths.

Term deposit rates for the 6-month, 9-month and 2-year terms were raised by between 0.05 and 0.15%.
