One in hospital after car crashes into building in Auckland

A damaged car that crashed into a building in Auckland on Saturday morning.

A person was taken to hospital after a car crashed into a building in Auckland during the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the property on Tamaki Drive at around 2am.

Hato Hone St John said one ambulance and two critical care units were sent to the scene.

One person was taken to Auckland Hospital in a moderate condition.

Photos from the scene showed significant damage to the front of the car. There was also damage to the front of the building.

Firefighters were also at the scene.

At the scene, Ray White managing partner Wayne Maguire joked he was called out to reports the housing market had crashed.

"Turns out that's not actually the case. It's only a car has crashed."

"We've got a car sitting in the front of the building ... hopefully nobody's stolen a house during the process."

He said substantial damage had been done to the office, but the plan was to get somebody in to replace the storefront tomorrow morning, and it'd be "business as normal".

"I've got daughters, so I'm very pleased that it's this and nothing else."
