Police responding to a report of a perfume heist say they quickly were able to quickly "sniff out" the leads and detain four young people.
Just before 2pm on Saturday, Hamilton police were called to a report that staff at a store at The Base shopping centre "had been assaulted and thousands of dollars' worth of perfume had been taken," a Police bulletin said.
"No weapons were used, nor were there any injuries."
Senior Sergeant Pete Simpson said officers who responded were given details about the possible identity of the suspects, and video captured by a person at the scene.
By 2:25pm on Saturday, officers had found "a bag full of the stolen items" at a nearby address, Simpson said.
Four young people were taken into custody, and are expected to appear in court on robbery charges next week.
"This is a brilliant result," Simpson said, "thanks to prompt information from the public both in the 111 call and at the scene."
