New Zealand fashion brand Sylvester has announced it will wind up operations, citing the tough economic climate.
The brand was run by Tom, Ike, and Cosmo Conway, the three sons of the celebrated Kiwi designer Kate Sylvester and graphic designer Wayne Conway.
It was a cheaper, more casual sister label to their mother's Kate Sylvester brand.
A message to social media followers this morning read: "We are sad to announce that, after giving it our all, we have decided to wind up the Sylvester brand."
It said they were "proud" of what they created but "the hard reality is that the economic climate is so much tougher than we anticipated".
"We knew trying to build a business would be tough, but just trying to keep afloat in this current climate has been too intensely stressful for our entire team.
"When we started this, Kate & Wayne made it clear to us that a business must pay for itself, and we listened. Our number one commitment is to our team and suppliers, to do right by them."
The business planned to continue selling its latest collection until Christmas, before making "final goodbyes" in February.
Sylvester has four retail stores, with two in Auckland, one in Wellington, and one in Christchurch.
"The most rewarding aspect of this adventure has been the love, support and enthusiasm from you, our community, our huddle.
"The Huddle represents heads together, arms around each other. It celebrates the bond between friends and family. Always."
