'Unlike anything we've released before': Whittaker's new chocolate block

The Gumdrop Block, made with Whittaker's 28% cocoa white chocolate, will be available in supermarkets from Monday.

Whittaker's is releasing a new limited-edition block combining white chocolate with bubblegum flavouring and gumdrops.

The Gumdrop Block, made with Whittaker's 28% cocoa white chocolate, will be available in supermarkets from Monday. It contains five different gumdrop flavours scattered throughout the block.

Ahead of the supermarket release, Whittaker's has partnered with Duck Island Ice Cream to launch a tie-in flavour, Bubble Gumdrop, which mixes the new block through a bubblegum ice cream base.

Duck Island stores nationwide will start scooping the flavour this Sunday, a day before the chocolate block reaches shelves. The first 50 customers at each store will receive a free scoop along with a complimentary Gumdrop Block.

Experimental

Whittaker's chief marketing officer Soraya Cottin said the block was one of the brand's more experimental limited editions.

"Gumdrop Block has got to be Whittaker's at its most playful. It's a flavour that's a little unexpected, very nostalgic, and unlike anything we've released before," she said.

Duck Island flavour development director Morgan Glass said the collaboration built on a long-standing relationship between the two companies.

"We've been using Whittaker's chocolate in our ice cream since we opened our doors eleven years ago, so building this flavour alongside Whittaker's felt pretty special," she said.

Gumdrop Block will be available while stocks last, and Bubble Gumdrop will be scooping at Duck Island stores for around a month or until sold out.
