A 13-year-old boy has been injured after getting out of a moving car at Disneyland in California and plunging down a near 15-metre drop.
Local media reported the incident occurred Sunday (local time) on the Tiana's Bayou Adventure ride at the Anaheim park. The ride is a log flume themed around the animated Disney film The Princess and the Frog.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the teen exited the ride vehicle just before the attraction's final and biggest descent – a 16-metre drop at a 45-degree angle that ends with a big splash.
Footage from the incident, shared by TMZ, showed the boy tumbling behind the log after it began its descent.
Disney officials said the ride was immediately stopped, and the teen was taken to hospital for evaluation before being released.
The ride was closed for the remainder of the evening, but reopened the following day.
The ride officially opened in 2024 but has been at the park since 1989, previously called Splash Mountain.
It was rebranded as Tiana's Bayou Adventure due to its ties to the 1946 movie Song of the South – a highly controversial film depicting plantation life in the post-Civil War South. Critics said the film depicted harmful stereotypes of happy, subservient Black plantation workers, and romanticised a dark chapter of the country's history.
