Police, FENZ respond after fire at Luxon's electorate office in East Auckland

Police and a fire crew were at Prime Minister Christopher Luxon's electorate office in East Auckland after a fire broke out Wednesday morning.

Fire and Emergency NZ said it was called to the office on Millhouse Dr, Botany at 9.30am and sent one truck from Howick.

Police are currently present at the Luxon's Botany office.

A spokesperson for the PM confirmed to 1News there had been a fire.

"There was a fire at the office. Our staff are safe and were not harmed," the spokesperson said.

"It’s now a Police matter so we don’t have further comment at this stage.”

The cause of the fire was not yet clear.

Footage from the scene showed FENZ pulling apart the deck at the property.

Police had set up caution tape around the area.

Luxon, who is the National Party MP for the Botany area, was in Christchurch at the time of the incident.
