Trump says he'll 'try and make' son's wedding, timing 'not good' for him

President Donald Trump speaks to reporters at an event about maternal healthcare, Monday, May 11, 2026, in the Oval Office of the White House, in Washington.

US President Donald Trump says he his unsure if he'll be able to attend his eldest son's upcoming wedding, citing the war in Iran and "other things" as a clash in his schedule.

Donald Trump Jr is due to marry socialite Bettina Anderson in The Bahamas on the weekend.

"He'd like me to go, but it's going to be just a small little private affair, and I'm going to try and make it," Trump said in response to a reporter's question at the White House.

"You know, this is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things. That's one I can't win on. If I do attend, I get killed. If I don't attend, I get killed by the fake news, of course, I'm talking about," he added.

"He’s got a very — a person who I’ve known for a long time, and hopefully, they’re going to have a great marriage.”

Trump Jr runs the family business with his brother Eric, and was active in his father’s political campaigns.

He split from his previous wife, Vanessa, in 2018 after 13 years of marriage; they have five children.
