Former All Blacks captain Taine Randell is set to run for New Zealand First at the upcoming election.
1News understands the 51-cap All Black will run for the party in the Hawke’s Bay electorate of Tukituki.
Randell, 51, was due to be announced at a public meeting in Hastings on Sunday, but it was cancelled due to Cyclone Vaianu.
Randell played rugby for Otago and the Highlanders but was born in Hastings and attended Lindisfarne College.
Tukituki is currently held by National’s Catherine Wedd.
