A man was busted while allegedly making guns during a police raid in Auckland's west yesterday.

Officers carried out two raids in the region yesterday morning, as part of a crackdown on firearms offending.

Police said one of the properties searched on Mountain Road in Henderson Valley was related to the manufacture and supply of illegal guns.

Detective Senior Sergeant Josh Lautogo said that when officers entered the property, a person was "actively manufacturing firearms". They were taken into custody.

During a search of the property, officers found several items and .22 ammunition "consistent with the manufacture of firearms".

A 35-year-old man would appear in the Waitākere District Court today charged with sell/manufacture firearms without dealer’s licence and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Police also raided the West Headhunters' pad on View Road.

Lautogo said the search targeted suspects with links to the Headhunters Motorcycle Gang.

During the raid, a .22 semiautomatic rifle was found inside a bag hanging from a coat hanger. Ammunition was also found in the same room.

A stolen Harley-Davidson V-Rod motorcycle and a stolen Cadillac Escalade were also found and towed.

Officers found 1kg of dried cannabis during a search of a car parked at the property.

“The estimated street value of this quantity of cannabis is significant, so it’s great to be able to remove it from our streets,” Lautogo said.

Two people were arrested and taken into custody "without issue".

A 42-year-old was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, while a 69-year-old man was charged with possession of cannabis for supply and would appear in the
