Police seek victim after linking stabbing with assault in Christchurch

Police say a stabbing in Bradford Park and a second, earlier attack nearby are connected and want to speak to one victim.

Christchurch police have called for an unknown victim to come forward as officers investigate a stabbing and an assault in the suburb of Sydenham last month they believe to be connected.

Police were notified of a person being stabbed in Bradford Park in Sydenham at around 10.15pm on March 18. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment but was released shortly after.

However, police inquiries have found a second assault occurred earlier that evening on Colombo St, just south of Fisher Ave, at around 9.30pm.

"Police believe the two incidents are linked," a spokesperson said.

"Police are working to identify the victim of the Colombo Street incident and would like to speak with them, as they may have information that could assist our investigation."

Anyone who was in the Bradford Park or Colombo St areas between 9pm and 10.15pm on March 18 should contact police on 105, the spokesperson said.

"This includes anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage."
