Eight hospitalised after serious Bay of Plenty crash

Eight people were hospitalised - including one in a critical condition - after a serious crash in Bay of Plenty last night.

The crash occurred on State Highway 2 at Waiotahe, near Ōpōtiki, around 8.30pm.

St John said one person was in a critical condition and one serious. Four were moderate and two were minor.

It sent a number of staff to the scene, with two helicopters attending.

The incident occurred at about 10.40pm on April 5 aboard the Mariner, while the vessel was deploying fishing gear.
