Two workers injured in separate attacks in Christchurch

Two employees were injured at separate commercial premises in Christchurch last night.

Police investigating two aggravated robberies which occurred within 10 minutes of one another in Christchurch last night are working to determine if the incidents are linked.

Acting Senior Sergeant Seb Kohnke said officers were called to a commercial premises on Briggs Rd, Shirley, after a report of two people entering the premises with a weapon at 8.10pm.

An employee was assaulted during the incident and was taken to hospital.

The offenders have then fled the area in a stolen vehicle.

It is unknown what was taken at this stage.

Just 10 minutes later at 8.20pm, police received a report of two people entering a commercial premises with a weapon on McBratneys Rd.

During the incident, an employee was assaulted and received moderate injuries.

"They have been transported to hospital," Kohnke said.

The two offenders targeted cash before leaving the area in a vehicle.

Kohnke said police were making inquiries to identify and locate the offenders, and were working to determine if the incidents are linked.

Anyone with information in relation to either incident was urged to contact police on 105, online, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
