A patched gang member has been arrested after guns were fired during a confrontation at a Huntly property this week.

Police say a group of men armed with guns approached an address on Cobham Cres in West Huntly about 7pm on Thursday, sparking a verbal altercation.

A gun was allegedly fired from inside the house towards the group, who then returned fire into the property, according to police. No one was injured.

Detective Senior Sergeant Scott McKenzie said police executed a search warrant at a Huntly address in relation to the incident, where a 54-year-old patched gang member was arrested.

"He has been charged with discharging a firearm at a person and participating in an organised criminal group, and is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on April 6," he said.

Police were seeking sightings of a silver FG Ford Falcon XR6 with the registration QCD523, as well as anyone who witnessed or may have information on the initial incident.

Anyone with relevant information should contact police on 105.
