Two people have been arrested after a driver allegedly rammed into a police vehicle and fled in Auckland's St Lukes Friday morning.
Police were alerted to two people in a vehicle near Victor St and Great North Rd shortly after 10am "due to the way their car was being driven".
Inspector Keki Wilson said police signalled for the vehicle to stop, but the driver failed to do so and fled, ramming into a police vehicle before continuing.
"No police staff were injured, and there was only minor damage to the vehicle," Wilson said.
The Eagle helicopter was deployed and tracked the vehicle as it made its way towards St Lukes Mall, where the passenger exited and was taken into custody.
The driver continued to flee in the vehicle and then on foot, and was pursued by the police dog unit and the Eagle helicopter.
"A 33-year-old man was arrested in the St Lukes Mall carpark," Wilson said.
Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident were ongoing.
