The Commerce Commission has opened an investigation into a "suspected pyramid scheme" with offices in New Zealand.
The regulatory agency said it was probing SFCVIBE Rating after receiving two reported concerns about the scheme.
Simon Pope, head of fair trading and product safety investigations, said the scheme promised users high payouts for completing basic digital tasks, such as rating and reviewing movies.
A search of the scheme on social media showed users promoting the scheme.
"The scheme involves the recruitment of others. It requires new participants to join via a referral link and to pay a subscription or deposit before starting work," Pope said.
The commission urged anyone who came across SFCVIBE Rating to "exercise caution".
"If what the scheme offers seems too good to be true, it probably is," Pope said.
Pope said that while the investigation was in its "very early stages", the commission said "public comment now will help limit any potential harm".
1News has approached SFCVIBE Rating for comment.
The commission asked anyone with further information about the scheme to reach out.
The commission's investigation follows a warning from the Consumer Council of Fiji that people should take "extreme caution" regarding the platform.
"Recent evidence suggests the platform is a sophisticated task-based pyramid scheme designed to defraud Fijians of their hard-earned money," it said.
It said the scheme's requirement for users to pay up front to unlock work levels was a "classic hallmark of a fraudulent operation".
Fiji's Consumer Council said the platform used tiered membership "traps" and VIP levels to get users to deposit "larger sums of money" for "supposedly higher returns".
"The movie reviews themselves appear to be a front to legitimise the flow of money, as the system relies entirely on new member deposits to pay out existing users.
"This is coupled with heavy recruitment incentives that place pressure on members to invite friends to earn commissions, serving as the primary driver of the scheme."
It urged Fijians to stop all payments to SFCVIBE "immediately".
"Do not send any more money, even if the platform claims it is for tax or account verification purposes."
