'Good Samaritans' save teen from Auckland bus stop assault

Bus stop at the intersection of Don Buck Rd and Mamuku Dr in Massey.

A family of "good Samaritans" stepped in to help a teenager who was being assaulted at a bus stop in Auckland over the weekend.

At around 10.10pm on Saturday, two teenage girls were sitting at a bus stop on Don Buck Rd, opposite Mamuku Dr in Massey when a white Suzuki Swift pulled up.

"Three people have exited the vehicle before one of them assaulted one of the teenagers," police said.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ryan Bunting said an "unknown" family then pulled their vehicle over, getting out and "told them to leave".

Police now want to speak to the family who intervened.

“We would really like to identify these people and speak with them about the circumstances of what happened, and also to thank them for their efforts," Bunting said.

"If this was you, or you know who this family is, police would like to hear from you."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or had information about it was asked to call police on 105.
