Police are urgently seeking information about a man reported to have approached young children in Wellington.
The incidents were reported on Friday, after a man came close to multiple young children near the corner of Mt Albert Road and Volga Street - between Berhampore and Island Bay - this month.
Inspector Jason McCarthy said police are working hard to identify and locate the individual.
"We understand incidents like this can be unsettling to the community; however, we ask parents to be alert, not alarmed."
Police will be conducting reassurance patrols in the area and inquiries are ongoing to identify and locate the man, he said.
McCarthy also acknowledged the situation can be unsettling for parents and caregivers and encouraged them to have a conversation about inappropriate behavior.
"The children have done the right thing by avoiding the man and telling a trusted adult. We encourage parents and caregivers to have discussions around behaviours and actions that are inappropriate or that make a child feel uncomfortable."
