The Warehouse and Noel Leeming to open brand new stores

The stores will open in Mangawhai mid-2027.

The Warehouse and Noel Leeming are set to open brand-new stores in Northland next year.

The new stores, expected to open mid-2027, will be adjacent to one another at the retail park on Molesworth Dr between Mangawhai and Mangawhai Heads.

Warehouse group chief operations officer Ian Carter said opening stores in the rapidly growing Mangawhai township made "perfect sense".

"Locals want a value retailer in town, and this allows us to not only provide great value locally but employ locally," Carter said.

"We expect there will be strong demand from local whānau and residents as well as holidaymakers for great quality, high-value shopping – whether that’s for the beach, the bach or school."

Jason Bell, Noel Leeming chief executive officer, said it was "extra special" to open the stores in "a completely new town for us".

"We can't wait to get the keys and meet our new community, and I hope they're as excited as we are," he said.

The Warehouse store will be roughly 4000sqm, and the Noel Leeming store 750sqm.

Both brands were expected to start fitting out their stores around Easter 2027, aiming to be open to the public by the middle of the year.

Earlier this year, the Warehouse Group announced it was cutting around 270 head office roles as part of a major restructuring aimed at reducing costs and returning the retail giant to sustainable profitability.
