Man in custody after 11 hours on roof in Nelson

Police have taken a man into custody this morning after he spent the night on a roof following an argument.

Police said they were called to Grove Street in Nelson after 9pm after reports of an argument between two people.

They said the man was later located on the roof of a building at around 10pm.

Police said they negotiated with the man until 8:45am today when the man came down was taken into custody.

Police said no charges had been laid and cordons are no longer in place.
