A man has been charged after a woman was stabbed in a "serious assault" in the Christchurch CBD last week.
Police were called to Worcester St, between Latimer Sq and Barbadoes St, around 10pm Thursday following reports a person had "received wounds consistent with being stabbed".
"The woman was transported to Christchurch Hospital by ambulance, where she underwent surgery," Sergeant Ben Rolton said last week.
The victim remained in hosptial, in a stable condition.
Police said a 19-year-old man was spoken to this morning.
He was due to appear in the Christchurch District Court today charged with intent to injure and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
"Police would like to thank the members of the public who came forward and assisted with information, as well as provided CCTV footage for officers to review," Rolton said.
