Police are appealing for information after a 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with sexual offences - including rape - in Hastings yesterday.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Karli Whiu said a 37-year-old Flaxmere man was arrested yesterday, and appeared in the Hastings District Court.
"He has been charged with abduction for sex, impedes breathing/blood circulation, two counts of unlawful sexual connection with female over 16, and four counts male rapes female over 16," Whiu said.
The man was granted name suppression, and was remanded in custody to reappear on April 14 in Hastings District Court.
Police were appealing for anyone who may have information on any other alleged offending by this man to come forward.
"This may have occurred in the Hastings area from approximately March 14-15 this year," Whiu said.

"We know it can be incredibly difficult and at times distressing to talk about these matters, but we would like to reassure any victims of offending that we will take them seriously."
He said officers and detectives were dedicated to these cases, and would provide "a safe space to report offending in confidence".
Anyone with information that may assist police could get in touch online or through 105.
