Govt eases fuel rules to allow Australian-spec petrol and diesel

The Government has temporarily eased fuel rules to allow petrol and diesel refined for Australia to be sold in New Zealand as it looks to reduce the risk of supply disruptions.

Associate Energy Minister Shane Jones announced the move at Monday's post-Cabinet press conference flanked by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Finance Minister Nicola Willis.

Subtropical low to bring heavy rain, strong winds and high seas

A subtropical low moving south towards New Zealand is expected to bring widespread heavy rain, strong winds and unusually large seas from midweek, with impacts likely to be felt across much of the country by Friday.

The system was also expected to generate dangerous marine conditions, with unusually large northerly swells forecast.

New digital ID features soon coming to Govt app

Bar-goers could soon prove their age using their phone under new digital ID features being added to the Government's Govt.nz app.

Digitising Government Minister Judith Collins said a digital wallet would roll out in the app by the end of the month, allowing New Zealanders to store and present accredited digital credentials issued by government or private sector organisations.
