A person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following an assault at a Taranaki park yesterday evening.
The victim was walking through the entrance near the old Maryann Residential Care Hospital in King Edward Park in Stratford around 6pm when they were assaulted by a male, Detective Senior Sergeant Paula Drewery said.
"They suffered injuries that require hospital treatment."
Hato Hone St John said they were alerted to the incident at 10.38pm and responded with one ambulance and one rapid response unit.
"Our crews assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Taranaki Base Hospital in a serious condition."
Drewery said police were now seeking a woman walking a Schnauzer-type dog in the same area of the park at the time of the assault.
Anyone who was in the area between 5pm and 10pm or had CCTV footage overlooking the park was asked to contact police on 105 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
