TVNZ has announced its new Business Breakfast show will be hosted by Mei Heron when it launches next month.
The programme will be on air from 6am on weekdays, leading into a refreshed Breakfast at 6.30am hosted by Chris Chang and Tova O’Brien.
Heron is a former 1News Europe Correspondent who brings more than a decade of frontline journalism across television and radio, reporting on politics, global affairs and economic issues.
“What happens in the business world affects our everyday lives," Heron said. "I’m really looking forward to joining Kiwis each morning to dissect and understand the latest information from around the world and here at home."
Currently a reporter based in the broadcaster’s Wellington office, she previously worked as a political reporter at RNZ and has been with TVNZ since 2018.
'Outstanding choice'
Phil O'Sullivan, TVNZ's Executive Editor - News, said: “Mei brings a depth of journalism experience that makes her an outstanding choice to host Business Breakfast. Her insight and ability to cut through complexity will equip viewers with the knowledge they need to navigate an evolving economic landscape.
“From reporting on world-shaping events like the war in Ukraine to flagship local bulletins and drivetime radio, Mei excels in the live broadcast environment. We’re delighted to have her lead this new programme.”
Launching next month, Business Breakfast will air weekdays from 6am-6.30am on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+. The broadcaster said there would also be additional short-form updates and extended interviews available on TVNZ+ and 1News.co.nz and across the morning on Breakfast.
TVNZ said it will announce the show’s sponsor and launch date at a later stage.
