Labubus and their toothy grins are jumping off handbags and onto the big screen, Chinese toymaker Pop Mart and Sony Pictures have announced.
The feature film, combining live action and computer-generated imagery, was now in "early development", the companies said today in a joint statement.
Paul King, whose works included the Paddington films and Wonka (2023), has been attached to direct.
Steven Levenson was announced as the film's co-writer alongside King.
No release date had yet been set.
The line of more than 300 collectable plush toys, created by Hong Kong illustrator Kasing Lung as part of The Monsters, gained popularity in early 2024.
The intellectual property generated NZ$1.2 billion – 34.7% of Pop Mart's revenue – in the first half of 2025, the company said in its annual report.
