Two people have died following separate crashes in the North Island this morning.
Police were first called to a single-vehicle crash on Waimarama Road in Hastings at around 6:45am today.
One person was found dead at the scene. The road was closed while a scene examination was carried out.
Just before 11am, a crash between a motorcycle and a car was reported in Mangaweka on State Highway 1.
Police said the motorcycle rider died at the scene.

A further crash between two vehicles occurred on SH8, Lindis Pass, at around 12:20pm.
Police said there were initial indications of injuries.
Hato Hone St John responded with one rural response vehicle, one rapid response unit, one manager, one ambulance, and one helicopter.
FENZ deployed five crews to Lindis Pass. It said one of the vehicles was on fire, but was extinguished by bystanders before firefighters arrived.
The road was closed this afternoon and travellers were advised to avoid the area.
