An Invercargill Woolworths had its front door rammed, and its tobacco products were raided in an alleged burglary on Friday morning.
Police said the incident happened at around 5.15am at Woolworths Waikiwi on North Road.
"Initial enquiries have determined that the offenders have used a vehicle to force the front doors of the store open, and taken a large amount of tobacco and cigarette products, before fleeing in the vehicle," Detective Sarah Harper said.
Staff were seen inside the building, sweeping up broken glass, while the front door was dislodged.
Police wanted to hear from anyone with information about the ram raid, including people with dashcam footage of North Rd and the surrounding areas between 4.30am and 6am.
Investigators were also interested to hear from people who saw a blue Toyota Prado in the area.
Police also wanted information about "people who may have an excess amount of tobacco or cigarettes, or anyone who has been offered tobacco or cigarettes".
Reports could be made via 105 using file number 260313/4943.
