Host of Celebrity Tipping Point NZ announced

Broadcaster Daniel Faitaua will host the 10-part series later this year.

Well-loved broadcaster Daniel Faitaua has been revealed as the host of Celebrity Tipping Point New Zealand, a new local version of the popular quiz show set to air later this year.

The primetime celebrity edition will see notable Kiwi personalities take on the show's signature coin-pusher machine in a bid to win money for their chosen charities.

Faitaua, a long-time TVNZ journalist and presenter, will guide contestants through the fast-paced quiz format. Players answer general knowledge questions to earn counters which drop into the arcade-style machine in hopes of pushing prizes over the edge.

"You can’t underestimate how much we as a nation love quizzing and to once again be invited back into your homes and family time to test your general knowledge is such a privilege," Faitaua said.

"Expect a show that’s livelier, more Kiwiana, with a surprise or two. I’m so excited and can’t wait to get stuck in."

Each episode will see three celebrity contestants go head-to-head, using their counters in the machine to trigger prizes and mystery rewards that could change the outcome of the game.

'Distinctly Kiwi flavour'

Nadia Tolich, TVNZ's chief news and content officer, said the format had proven popular internationally and was well suited to a local version.

"Tipping Point is a hugely successful format around the world, and we know Kiwi audiences love seeing their favourite international hits brought to life locally," she said.

"A New Zealand celebrity edition lets us take everything audiences love about the show and give it a distinctly Kiwi flavour.

"Daniel is a fantastic presenter, and with him at the helm – alongside a raft of well-known faces playing for charity – Celebrity Tipping Point NZ will be a fun, entertaining and competitive new addition to our primetime lineup."

Celebrity Tipping Point NZ will be produced by Screentime New Zealand.

The 10-part series is set to screen on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+ later this year, with the celebrity lineup and premiere date yet to be announced.
