Indian pace bowler Arshdeep Singh has been fined by the International Cricket Council after he hurled the ball at Black Caps batsman Daryl Mitchell during the T20 World Cup final.
Mitchell played the ball to Arshdeep during the 11th over of New Zealand's innings in Ahmedabad, with the bowler fielding the ball and throwing it aggressively back towards him, hitting him in the pads.
Arshdeep initially turned around and walked back without apologising to a visibly angry Mitchell before Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav came over and apologised. The pair then shook hands at the end of the over.
The International Cricket Council said Arshdeep breached the Code of Conduct by "throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner".
He was fined 15% of his match fee and had one demerit point added to his disciplinary record.
Arshdeep, who had apologised to Mitchell at the end of the over and again following the match, accepted the sanction.
India went on to win the T20 World Cup for a record third time, beating the Black Caps by 96 runs.
