A woman has been killed and two other people injured after a car crashed into a café on Auckland's North Shore this morning, with a witness describing the scene as "heartbreaking".
Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash on William Souter St in Forrest Hill, shortly before 9am.
Police said a car had mounted the curb and hit two people before hitting a building.

"One person was transported to hospital in a critical condition and they have sadly now died from their injuries," a police spokesperson said.
St John said another person was moderately injured and taken to hospital.
A third person, who also suffered moderate injuries, was treated at the scene.
A worker, who was nearby, described hearing a loud bang, and said the scene was "heartbreaking".

They said a person from a neighbouring vet clinic rushed out to help – comforting the badly injured woman and trying to keep her conscious.
Others tried to make sure everyone else was safe.
William Souter St was closed between East Coast Rd and Morton Ave, police said.
The serious crash unit also attended the scene.
