A $12 million Powerball jackpot prize is up for grabs for players in tonight's Lotto draw.
Powerball was not struck on Saturday and has rolled over to tonight, climbing from $10 million to $12 million.
Lotto first division will be $1 million and Strike Four will be $700,000.
Watch tonight's live Lotto draw on TVNZ 1 and on TVNZ+ at 8.20pm.
Mystery winner claims millions
The mystery winner of a $4.5 million Powerball prize which was unclaimed for three weeks has since come forward, according to a Lotto NZ spokesperson.
Lotto NZ said the winning Powerball ticket was purchased at Glen Innes Dairy and Lotto Outlet for the draw which took place on February 18.
“We usually hear from our Powerball winners within a few days – it’s rare they go this long before claiming,” said Lotto NZ head of corporate communications Will Hine said last week.
The mystery winner is one of 12 lottery millionaires this year, and the first from Auckland.
Three winners share $18m prize
Tonight's draw follows last month's $18 million Powerball jackpot prize which was split between three players, who each took home $5.08 million.
One of the winners was a grandfather from the Wellington region who had purchased his ticket after a routine beach walk in Paraparaumu.
“I looked at the results online, and when I matched the numbers on my ticket, I thought I must have done something wrong," he said.
The man said he was looking forward to using the prize money to help his children and grandchildren.
A Masterton man who ran around his house in his underwear after discovering he'd won was the second player to claim the $5.08m prize.
"I logged in at about 6.30am to check my ticket, still in bed and half-asleep," he said. “Next thing I know, I’m running through the house in my underwear yelling, ‘Oh my god, Dad! Dad!’"
The third winners of the $5.08m prize were a West Coast couple who kept their celebrations simple -- marking the moment with a few chocolate biscuits in lieu of champagne.
The man was stunned to find out he and his partner were winners, saying he "couldn't comprehend the numbers" after checking his ticket.
"We're so overwhelmed and emotional," he said. "We just keep saying to each other 'can you believe it?'"
How many people win big?
While Lotto wins often make headlines, the odds of claiming the top prize remain extremely slim.
In 2025, only 21 players were Powerball winners. 55 players were made millionaires through Lotto, and 334 Lotto prizes amounted over $100,000.
To win Lotto first division, players must match all six numbers drawn, with odds of about 1 in 3.8 million per line.
Winning Powerball first division requires matching all six Lotto numbers plus the Powerball number, with odds of roughly 1 in 38.3 million.
There are several prize divisions, meaning players can still win smaller prizes by matching as few as three numbers. Most draws produce thousands of winners across the country.
