A person was rescued from Auckland's Waitematā Harbour last night by a passing ferry.

The 8.25pm service between Hobsonville Point and Auckland picked up a person in the water near the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

A Fullers360 spokesperson thanked the boat crew and praised their "quick and professional" response.

"Their swift actions, care and teamwork helped ensure the individual was rescued and brought to safety," the spokesperson said.

"We’re incredibly proud of our crew for stepping in and responding so calmly in this situation."

St John said it was notified of a "water-related incident" in Auckland Central at 9.35pm and responded with an ambulance.

"Our crew assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Auckland City hospital in a moderate condition."
