One person dies in Auckland sleepout fire

Emergency services at the scene of a fatal fire in Ōtāhuhu

One person has died overnight in a sleepout fire in Auckland’s Ōtāhuhu, prompting a warning from Fire and Emergency New Zealand.

Four fire trucks and police responded to the blaze on Tamaki Ave.

FENZ assistant commander Chris Delfos said it was a good reminder to check fire alarms in your house and have an escape plan.

The blaze has been extinguished and an investigator attended the scene.

A house fire in Auckland's Panmure

There was a second overnight blaze in Panmure, which has also been extinguished.

Flames were seen leaping from the home on Ngarimu Rd.

FENZ sent three trucks and a command unit.
